Born into a modest family of automotive mechanics in Kluang, Johor, Brian's education ended after Form Three. Without completing secondary school or obtaining a school-leaving certificate, he entered the workforce with little more than determination and a willingness to work hard. To earn a living, he commuted between Malaysia and Singapore, taking on various jobs before eventually partnering with his father to run a small car repair workshop.
Although his diligence ensured that the family never went hungry, the sight of grease-stained hands at the end of each day constantly reminded him of a deeper concern.
"I didn't have the qualifications to pursue better opportunities. I often wondered, 'Is this really going to be my life forever?' My father was a mechanic, and I became one too.
